Settings

Choose which Rhino version Rhino.Inside.AutoCAD runs, and the colours it draws previews in.

The support dialog

Both settings live on the Settings tab of the Rhino.Inside.AutoCAD support dialog, opened from the Support button on the Rhino.Inside.AutoCAD toolbar. The dialog's other tabs — About, Support and Update — cover version information, getting in touch, and checking for a newer release.

The Settings tab: the Rhino version on top, the three preview colours beneath.

Rhino version

Rhino Version sets which installed Rhino the plug-in runs. When more than one hostable version is installed you are asked at startup which to use — see Choosing which Rhino to use.

  • Pick a version from the dropdown to change it.
  • Tick Always use this version and stop asking at startup to skip the prompt in future. This is the same as choosing Always use version in the startup dialog, and this is where you undo that choice if you change your mind.
  • Untick it to be asked again the next time AutoCAD starts.

Changing the Rhino version takes effect the next time AutoCAD starts. Rhino can't be swapped inside a running session.

Preview colours

Preview Colours sets the colours the Rhino and Grasshopper previews are drawn in inside the AutoCAD viewport. Each can be any AutoCAD Color Index (ACI) value from 1 to 255 — the same palette AutoCAD uses everywhere else.

SettingWhat it coloursDefault
Rhino previewsUnselected Rhino geometry drawn in the AutoCAD viewportACI 4 (cyan)
Grasshopper previewsUnselected Grasshopper geometry drawn in the AutoCAD viewportACI 1 (red)
Selected previewsSelected preview geometry, of either kindACI 2 (yellow)
  • Changes apply straight away to the previews already on screen — you don't need to re-run the definition or restart AutoCAD.
  • The defaults are the colours the plug-in has always used, so an existing installation keeps the appearance it had until you change something.
  • Changing a colour won't bring back a preview you've toggled off with TOGGLE_RHINO_PREVIEW or GRASSHOPPER_PREVIEW_OFF — visibility is reapplied as part of the refresh.

Your Rhino version choice and preview colours are stored in:

%APPDATA%\Bimorph\RhinoInsideAutoCAD\UserSettings.json

This file is written by the plug-in and survives updates. Logs and cache sit alongside it in the same %APPDATA%\Bimorph\RhinoInsideAutoCAD folder — useful to know if you ever need to report an issue.
